Arts First Aid Grant

What is it?

Through a partnership between the Kentucky Arts Council and the Kentucky Department of Education. The Arts First Aid Grant Program provides Kentucky school administrators, teachers and students with a high quality intensive arts education experience that aligns curriculum with the Kentucky Academic Standards for the Arts. The program makes use of 1) technical-assistance consultancies utilizing Specialists with Arts Tactics (SWAT) program, 2) Teaching Art Together artists residencies, and 3) Showcasing the Arts school performance/presentations.

Who’s eligible?

Any Kentucky public school that supports grades pre-K through 12 and has received a less than proficient score (under 8) on the Visual and Performing Arts assessment by the Kentucky Department of Education for the 2015-2016 school year may apply.

Currently accepting applications.

How do I apply?

  1. Carefully review the program guidelines.

  2. Select and contact a solo, duo or trio artist.

  3. Complete the application form.

  4. Sign an agreement with selected artist(s).

  5. Make arrangements for the principal and district superintendent or CEO to approve the proposal and
    sign your application.

  6. Mail the arts council a printout of your application.

If I receive a grant, what are my responsibilities?

  1. The Kentucky Arts Council will mail a grant agreement form (GAF) to your superintendent or CEO for a signature. Ensure the GAF is signed and submitted to the arts council in a timely manner.

  2. Send a letter to each of your state legislators. (Sample)

  3. Acknowledge the Kentucky Arts Council in all public communications.(How?)

  4. Submit a final report within 30 days of the Performance/Presentation.
