What does this distinction mean to your organization?

It's a thrill to be recognized with the highest award in the arts in our beloved commonwealth. We are humbled, grateful and committed to continuing to serve our city and state with news, music, arts, culture and connection.

In an era when media outlets are eliminating full-time arts and culture reporters, you have retained that position in your newsroom. Why are the arts an important component of your coverage?

The arts transcend civilizations, bring depth and richness to the human experience, and are their own economic driver. The arts can be educational, playful, fun, dark, serious, informative, illuminating. There is no better basis for expressing the human condition than through the arts. It's a core part of our newsroom.

What has been the reaction of your listeners to your coverage of the arts?

Our listeners and readers were hungry for more local arts coverage, and they've responded by engaging us directly on our stories, sharing on social media and signing up for our arts newsletter, "Arts Culture Et Cetera." Our arts reporter, Stephanie Wolf, has grown the beat with dedicated, consistent reporting and storytelling unlike anything else in our state.
