Berea College Concert Choir
The 60-voice Berea College Concert Choir is conducted by Dr. Stephen Bolster, Professor of Music. For five decades,the Concert Choir, formed in 1949, has performed inspirational concerts for audiences in the United States, Europe and Canada. Under Bolster’s direction, the choir and chamber singers have toured annually in the eastern United States, performed in central and eastern Europe in 1994, performed in Italy and Switzerland in 2002 and taped two Christmas specials for educational television that were aired throughout the mid-south. The Berea College Concert Choir represents diversity in all its aspects – ethnic background, race, nationality, background and academic major.

Bolster, who holds music degrees from Dartmouth College, the University of North Carolina and the University of Colorado, combines teaching and conducting at Berea with a host of other professional activities. A former member of the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, he is in frequent demand as a lecturer, clinician and judge in the mid-south region. The recipient of many honors and awards, Bolster most recently received the Kentucky Choral Directors Association’s highest honor, the 2002 Robert K. Barr Choral Excellence Award.
