Mariya Tarakanova, Flamenco Talk performs Alegria dance
Flamenco has a uniquely vital role in breaking down stigmas and social barriers. This culture, art form and, life style was born out of cultural genocide and racial injustice. Highly passionate in its expression and fierce in its delivery, flamenco reveals profound human emotions with every nostalgic strum of the guitar, each heartfelt wail of the cantaor (singer) and each heart-pounding rhythmic passage as the music pours through the dance and explodes from her feet. It is spellbinding, commanding, honest, and beautiful.
Mariya Tarakanova and FlamencoTalk’s performances bring into focus the traditions of the authentic flamenco while exploring the vibrant style and complexity of this great art. The company presents original choreography and live music, filled with brilliant artistry, drama and fervor. Ignites senses and rouses the audience.
