The Big Sandy Singers

The Big Sandy Singers are the auditioned, elite student singing group from eastern Kentucky’s Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) campuses in Pike, Floyd and Johnson counties. The Big Sandy Singers released their first album, "Down to the River to Pray," in March 2005, followed by "Going Home" in December 2007 and "Heal Our Land" in November 2008. All profits from CD sales benefit the college’s music and drama departments and music scholarships.

The Singers have performed for Hal Rogers’ PRIDE Envi Awards, at rallies for former presidential candidate John Edwards, for the Kentucky State Senate at the Capitol, and opened for Grammy winners and nominees Naomi Judd, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Gold City and The Isaacs. They have performed on local radio stations, at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center, the Mountain Arts Center and many other venues. The Singers perform for regional high schools and serve as judges for the BSCTC’s Big Sandy Idol competition.

The Big Sandy Singers are directed by BSCTC instructor and veteran Kentucky Opry member Laura Ford Hall with the aid of assistant director Clayton Case and technical director and album producer Timothy Cooley.
