The Jerry Tolson Quintet
The Jerry Tolson Quintet is a Louisville-based jazz group led by pianist/vocalist Jerry Tolson. The quartet performs jazz standards, contemporary originals and Latin-influenced selections. Their performances range from the feel good, foot tapping infectious music of the hard bop era to the contemporary smooth jazz sound of artists such as Grover Washington and Kirk Whalum.
Together since 1994, the group maintains an active performing schedule on the Louisville music scene. They have appeared at local and regional jazz festivals including Jazz in Central Park, The Legacies Music Festival and the Louisville Jazz and Blues Festival and have been featured on the Kentucky Center's Jazz Cabaret Series. In addition, they performed internationally at the Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy), the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) and on the island of Barbados.
