Velveeta Jones Band

Velveeta Jones Band is a hard-hitting blues and blues-based group from central Kentucky. Its no-gimmicks, no-frills approach to the music is simple yet effective. Blending a variety of influences from country to pop to rock and roll and applying those to the blues gives Velveeta Jones a unique sound.

Patrick Morley’s more than 40 years of guitar-playing experience, walking blues dictionary Michael Anderson’s driving bass and the powerful drums of Duane Miller are all that’s needed to deliver that sound—the rest comes from lead vocalist Sondra “Spanky” Perry. No choreography or lighting effects--the band asserts that all you need is talent and the will to use it.

Regional winners of the 2007 International Blues Challenge sponsored by the Blues Foundation, the Velveeta Jones Band is a regular at area festivals, including the W.C. Handy Blues and BBQ Festival in Henderson, Ky., BBQ & Music @ The Point in Carrollton, Ky., and the Louisville Blues and BBQ Festival in Louisville, Ky. Other area appearances include the Red Mile Blues Festival in Lexington, Ky., and the Lake Cumberland Blues, Boats and BBQ Fest, co-founded by Morley.
